Services

I offer in-person and virtual sessions.
Counseling

I do counseling a little differently. As we work together, we'll spend plenty of time on the issues and problems that brought you to counseling but our first session will be a deep dive into the changes you want in your life. It's totally fine if you don't have clear ideas about this. Most of us are more familiar with our problems than what we want instead. I'll ask questions to help you connect with what you want and this first session will give us an idea of the destination to head in as we work together. Picturing the life you want to live will be as helpful as understanding where you've been.

We'll start with what's going on in your life now, and as the problems and challenges arise, I'll invite you to try mind-body techniques that draw on your body's wisdom to literally think outside the box. We have an automatic survival response that does a fantastic job of keeping us alive. But if we've lived through painful or difficult experiences, our survival response can overreact and we might find ourselves overwhelmed and unable to cope. Mind-body techniques give us a way to communicate with this automatic reaction and choose how to respond to our experiences.

My work is to support you in shaping a life that is organic to who you are in all your delightful complexity. I'm not so much a teacher as a midwife to the changes you're making that bring you closer to who you want to be.

Logistics

Most people meet with me every 1-2 weeks.

We start with a 3-session introduction over several weeks so you can experience what I do. At the end of the third session, we'll decide together whether my approach is the best fit for you. If not, I'll help you find someone whose approach is better suited to you.

My fee is $150 for a 45-minute or 55-minute session, whichever is your preference. Our first session will be 60 minutes long.

Some people pay me out of pocket, and if you're not using insurance, you have the right to a Good Faith Estimate.

Others use their insurance. I am in network with BCBS (but not the State Health Plan, Blue Home, Blue Value, Blue Local, or High Performance Network) and the Duke student health insurance.

If you have another insurance plan, I am an out-of-network provider, which means your insurance may cover part of your session fee.

You have the right to read my privacy policies at any time.

Intensives

Intensives are only available to those who have completed the 3-session introduction described above.

An intensive is a 2-hour session tailored to your needs. These longer sessions are particularly helpful in shifting deep-seated beliefs and issues. Intensives focus on mind-body approaches to address difficult or traumatic experiences, giving spacious time to work safely and deeply.

The fee for an intensive is $300. Intensives are not covered by insurance.
